   OEF Ribbon                                                                            OIF Ribbon

We are actively serving many veterans from Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). The return to civilian life for these veterans is challenging due to the impact of prolonged tours of duty, service-connected disability, and the trauma of combat (PTSD). A snapshot of the OEF/OIF veterans we are helping may be viewed here.

Established in 1980 VVC offers community based activities for veterans and their families. With Four Service Centers in Northern California, we are focused on the complex realities of veterans' issues and work diligently to design innovative programs, which respond to the diverse needs of veterans and the community.

Workshops for Caregivers of Veterans

The Department of Veterans Affairs and Stanford University School of Medicine are offering a free, online workshop for family caregivers of veterans and veterans who serve as caregivers. To take part you must live in California, Southern Nevada or Hawaii and care for someone with Traumatic Brain Injury, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or Doctor diagnosed memory problems (dementia). This is a 6-week program done entirely on the Internet at times convenient to you. The workshop covers stress reduction, methods for dealing with difficult emotions, communication skills, planning for the future, keeping healthy while caring for others and more.
